Experience

Jan 2022 – now: Freelance Manufacturing IT consultant (with focus on MES/MOM) @ Flex C&E

Feb 2023 – Now > Vendor : Libre Technologies (USA) as a MES/MOM Consultant
Libre Technologies has built a Manufacturing Data Hub, called Rhize, that is a S95 standard driven headless backend for Manufacturing. With a fully standardised S95 API (GraphQL), BPMN workflow engine (for business logic) and dGraph database. I’m working on multiple projects to design solutions with the Rhize MDH platform. Leading the workshops with customers to get the requirements clear and translated into sequence diagrams, ISA95 datamodels and skeleton BPMN’s. Then work together with the development team to get this implemented.

Jan 2022 – Feb 2023 > End customer: Photonis (The Netherlands) as a Business Consultant MES/MOM
Photonis has 2 manufacturing sites, the ERP solution was being harmonized and a new MES solution was going to be implemented by Actemium. I worked as a business consultant on the OneERP Blueprint to define which functionalities/requirements would be handled by which Manufacturing IT solution.

After the Blueprint was ready I moved to designing the MES solution (Shopfloor Online of Infor) by creating a MOM Guidebook and Functional Design specification.

May 2019 – Jan 2022: Global Manufacturing IT Manager @ Nutreco

I worked together with global and local Operations and IT teams to bring the various key Manufacturing IT systems in and around our factories to a higher and globally aligned level. My focus was on all applications and interfaces between the ERP and the automated processes in the factories.
This is software like:

  • Process Control Systems (PCS/ PLC / Scada)
  • Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
  • Formulation & RecipeManagement software
  • Labellingsoftware / Print and Apply solutions
  • Maintenance Management
  • Quality Management

Aligned on which functionalities are needed and in which layer/application these will be handled.
Created Man.IT strategy and architecture for existing and new plants, to support a smooth running global Operations (Manufacturing & Supply Chain) organization.
Focus was on 3 main pillars:

  1. House in order: to get the basics in place, created a Nutreco wide OT Policy, set up a network of local OT owners, gave workshops to these local OT owners to get the basic knowledge in place. Created a template to get a complete OT Asset inventory of all sites, in order to get the current state (and risks) visible. With this we got the current state visible and can start on next steps, to improve and minimize biggest risks first.
  2. Global MES Roadmap: to get to a set of standardized MES solutions (with suppliers/integrators that are real partners) across the clusters and sites. Gathered requirements from global and local departments, create best practices on MOM, evaluation of existing solutions, selecting new products.
  3. Manufacturing Intelligence: to get a global solution, managed on centralized servers where all factories can be connected to. Defined a standardized dataset and get all data from the existing PCS and/or MES systems. With this all process data can be stored in time, then combined with contextual data like order, batch, shift into powerfull information about the availability, performance and quality of the processes. E.g. to find the best batches per recipe and give all parameters that were used during these ‘golden’ batches, so we can produce more of these.

I give advice in how the solution can be mapped to the processes and have a role as Config Lead, where I’m in a central role to coordinate all the configuration work that has to be done. Besides that I will test and help shaping the product into a stable and high quality solution, that will support the end customer as much as possible.

Part of the MES Product Team that designed the GE MES (Proficy PfMD) templates that will be used for all Jaguar Landrover sites. Map all the processes of past and future projects, compare, create gap analyse, then create overview of the core processes that will be used in all factories. Start to design templates for those processes. During the project focused on the DC Tooling process, to design the template and interfaces around this in more detail.
